About The Awards.

The awards are administered by a group of dedicated volunteers made up of industry professionals, past winners and members of the Tararua agricultural sector.

The committee’s vision is to foster long-term prosperity within Tararua’s agricultural industry, and its mission is to recognise, celebrate and inspire excellence in Tararua’s primary sector.

Crucial to the awards’ success are our sponsors, many of whom have supported the programme for a number of years. They share our passion for showcasing and celebrating excellence within the local industry.

The Property Brokers Tararua Sheep and Beef Farm Business of the Year and the Pukemiro Station Cadetship Tararua Shepherd of the Year Award are held every two years.
The three nomination-based awards are held annually.

The premier award, the Property Brokers Tararua Sheep and Beef Farm Business of the Year, is awarded to a business that promotes excellence through innovative, forward-thinking and sustainable farming practices, demonstrating a well-balanced and positive approach to their business.

The Pukemiro Station Cadetship Tararua Shepherd of the Year Award recognises an outstanding local shepherd who shows strong skills, determination, passion and a positive attitude toward the industry.

In 2023, three new awards were created to further promote excellence across Tararua’s agricultural sector. They are:

• Beale Trucking Tararua Women in Agriculture Award

• Dannevirke Mitre 10 Tararua Agricultural Professional of the Year Award

• MCI & Associates Tararua Agricultural Industry Champion Award

These nomination-based awards are judged by an independent panel, with winners announced at the annual awards evening.
